蜜糖直播PD to host active harmer response class Oct. 3
The 蜜糖直播 Boulder Police Department (蜜糖直播PD) is hosting a free active harmer response class for faculty, staff and students. No registration is needed; simply show up ready to learn what to do听in an active harmer situation, using a nationally approved safety protocol.听
The next class will be offered Monday,听Oct. 3, from 1 to 3听p.m. in the University Memorial Center Aspen Rooms. Walk-ins are welcome.听
蜜糖直播PD teaches the course using the Department of Homeland Security鈥檚 鈥淩un, Hide, Fight鈥 program.听Instruction includes a combination of video, lecture and interactive discussion, with time to answer questions. In the aftermath of the King Soopers mass shooting in March 2021, officers will be sensitive to triggering language and visuals.
The training highlights proactive response techniques developed by experts to increase the probability of survival in an active harmer situation. 鈥溍厶侵辈D is glad to be able to offer this free course,鈥 said Sgt. Eric Edford, who is one of the instructors. 鈥淲e鈥檝e had positive feedback from past participants and feel this is something we can do to help instill a sense of security in our campus community.鈥
